What's New at PSS
Progressive Software Solutions, LLC was formed in January of 1999. It
is an employee owned company. That is, the people who work on every
aspect of production, service, sales and administration are part owners of
the company. These members bring to the company extensive experience and
knowledge of networking technologies and software development. We are all
from the greater Washington DC area and Northern Virginia - the birthplace
of the Internet. At our web site, you've seen the wide variety of operating
systems our products will run on. This alone, displays the extensiveness of
our technology experience. PSS has issued over 1000 software licenses in more than
24 countries in the past two years.
Here we chronicle our successes....
September 2002:
- PSS releases version 5.03 of BrowserExpress. This new version includes WebBook a group address book. PSS has also improved support for various MIME Content Types used by today's mail servers.
June 2001:
- PSS releases version 2.53 of pssRecruit. With this minor upgrade release pssRecruit provides enhanced support for newer Netscape web browsers. pssRecruit users will also find an improved default interface along with updated on-line documentation.
May 2001:
- PSS releases version 2.52 of pssRecruit. With this release, PSS fixed a bug in the download packages and improved the installation and product documentation.
- PSS delivered a custom-built web-based form handling application to a premier travel management firm. This application streamlines the company's necessary information collection effort and offers a valuable service to their valued customers.
April 2001:
- PSS releases Version 2.51 of pssRecruit, adding enhanced support for older browsers and improved customization. pssRecruit is the job posting application to make you look good. New features include:
- Integrated search capability
- Customizable sorting of reports
- Greater control and flexibility of record names to support more file systems
- Enhanced support for older browsers
- PSS offers Installation and Customization services for BrowserExpress and pssRecruit. To help reduce the total cost of ownership for customers with a limited IT staff. Customization is priced per unit based on complexity of the customer's requirement. Installation is a one-time add on charge with the purchase of a product license.
- PSS releases version 2.51 of pssSearch. pssSearch, formerly known as SearchExpress, now has improved support for special characters entered into search strings.
March 2001:
- PSS releases Version 4.03 of BrowserExpress, adding significantly improved customization of the BrowserExpress web-based interface and messages. The new features include:
- Support for Header file include in all dynamically generated pages.
- Support for Footer file include in all dynamically generated pages.
- Support for CSS / Style Sheets in all dynamically generated pages.
- Support for Text insertion in all outgoing e-mail messages.
- PSS delivered a custom-built web-based recruiting application to one of Chicago's major executive search firms. The PSS development team developed and delivered this custom application on time, the way the customer wanted it.
February 2001:
- PSS releases version 2.5 of pssRecruit

- PSS releases version 4.0 of BrowserExpress, the world leader in Web-based e-mail.
New or improved features include:
- Large attachment handling.

- Fewer required configuration elements.
- Enhanced support for slow mailserver.
- Cleaner and faster interface.
- Selectable logout function. User can exit or go to new web page of user choice.
- Enhanced sorting of message list, sort by date, from, etc.
September 2000:
- PSS releases version 2.5 of pssSearch.

August 2000:

- PSS releases Version 3.31 of BrowserExpress and BrowserExpress

- Added an "EXIT" button which exits the browser after warning the user.
- Fixed the missing "close" button on the help window when using Netscape
- Fixed the "Bare LF" problem
- Keyed .ini file to program name
- Used $ENV{'sourceExe'} for UNIX platforms and $ENV{'SOURCEEXE'} for NT platforms
June 2000:
- PSS releases version 3.30 of BrowserExpress. Updated Features:
- Multiple Languages now available by changing the .ini file.

- Netscape Friendly--user interface looks the same on new and old versions of Netscape and MS Internet Explorer.
- Removed "Please remember...." text from login screen
- Removed the text boxes in the message area to give that area a cleaner look

- Moved Send and Forward buttons to the top of the user interface
- Added "Find" button if LDAP is enabled.

December 1999:
- PSS offers for FREE the directory services component used within
BrowserExpress. We call it LDAP-Express.
LDAP stands for Lightweight Directory Access Protocol, and it is commonly
used to communicate with databases that contain e-mail addresses. Several public
databases also exist. One example is ldap.bigfoot.com. Odds are good that your corporate
e-mail also uses an LDAP database. Download
LDAP-Express. The software is written in perl.
November 1999:
